May 25th, 2019 –
Kayla and Josh have been married for a little over two years, but with Josh’s military commitment and ongoing training, they decided to forego a traditional ceremony with family and friends and instead went to the local courthouse to make their marriage official before Josh deployed. Flash forward two years, and they are both still crazy in love! I saw through social media that Kayla was proud and excited to be able to fit back into her wedding dress (that she never wore) after having kids and I decided to reach out to her.
I asked her if she’d be interested in doing a few bridal portraits, not knowing that Josh had never seen her in the dress, and she jumped at the opportunity! We set a date and met at Edinburgh West to shoot and she looked amazing in her dress! Edinburgh West also provided a beautiful bouquet for our session and Kayla did her own hair and makeup.
We talked a little about their relationship that day and later she contacted me about doing a vow renewal in a scenic location. I gave her a few options and she decided on the gorgeous Black Balsam Knob. As a photographer based out of Greenville, SC I find that the mountains around Asheville are the perfect backdrop for small elopements and weddings.
Being it was Memorial Day Weekend there were a ton of hikers at every waypoint off the Blue Ridge Parkway but we were able to find a secluded spot in the forest for the ceremony with her family. After the ceremony, we took a few minutes to say goodbye to the family and headed up the mountain. When we got to the top they opened a bottle of wine and toasted to the future together.
