Real Weddings at the Gassaway Mansion

Julia & Dave

What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?

We are just so excited to finally marry each other!!! We’re both really looking forward to hearing each other’s vows 🙂 And there are so many things to look forward to at the reception – first dance, cake cutting, toasts!

What inspired your wedding décor?

Did you have a theme in mind? Since both our families are flying in from PA, we really want to show them that southern charm! We picked the color scheme (baby blue & peach) because it felt very southern-springy haha. We (read: Julia LOL) love the soft, floral look, with lots of whites and greenery.

Why did you pick the venue(s) that you chose?

Like question #2, we wanted to put our yankee families right in the heart of downtown Greenville! The location is perfect, as our wedding block is the Marriott in the downtown. For a lot of them, this will be really the only time they see where we now live and where we’ll start our family. We loved the “fancy” feel of the Gassaway, and then we saw THE TENT!!! OMG the reception tent sealed the deal for us. Loved the vibes out there, and the trees/etc around the venue are so beautiful 🙂

What is your favorite feature about your wedding venue?

Reception tent!!! The floral hanging chandelier thing is amazing. Also, love the mansion entrance where the ceremony will be. It’s so historic and beautiful – Gassaway is truly a timeless venue!

Is there any particular vendor that you are really excited to have for your day?

Honestly, we are absolutely THRILLED with all our vendors! You of course, we loved your work from the very start. I have to say we are really looking forward to the cake by Holly’s Cakes! The sweet potato flavor is so southern, our families will be mind-blown 🙂

Tell us about the food/drink at your wedding.

Pork tenderloin and honey dijon chicken! The pork tenderloin, again very southern we thought. We also have stuffed mushrooms and crab dip for cocktail hour, and dinner sides will be a spinach & vinaigrette salad, and new potatoes! Since Dave is sober, Julia picked the wine list 🙂 Picked my favorite wines and some beers I thought all would enjoy! Couldn’t resist the peach sangria though, it will be there! For Dave we have sodas and tea!

Which part of your wedding did you want to WOW your guests?

Honestly, the venue! Gassaway is so beautiful, I think both our families are really going to be blown away. Seeing the mansion during the ceremony will be amazing enough, but people will lose their minds when they head to the reception! Also…. my wedding dress 🙂
